This emerald began its journey millions of years ago, formed within the dynamic intersection of tectonic uplift and hydrothermal activity that characterizes Colombia's emerald districts. Deep beneath the surface, silica rich fluids percolated through fractures in sedimentary host rocks, carrying beryllium in solution. Where those beryllium bearing fluids met chromium and vanadium sourced from nearby ultramafic or volcanic rocks, conditions favored the crystallization of beryl with a green chromophore. Over extended geological time, repeated pulses of pressure and heat, coupled with slow cooling, allowed this crystal to grow in a relatively open cavity, developing the internal structure and natural inclusions that are diagnostic of Colombian emeralds. The vivid green color of this stone records the presence of chromium and vanadium at the moment of formation, while the slightly included clarity reflects the crystal habit and the entrained mineral and fluid inclusions that were trapped as the gem reached its final form.
Presented by The Natural Emerald Company, this specimen is a transparent 7.80 carat cushion shape emerald, with dimensions of 13.05 by 10.73 by 8.71 mm, and a mixed brilliant cut executed to balance color and light return. The clarity grade is slightly included, evaluated at eye level, consistent with natural formation processes and typical of fine Colombian material. Color intensity is vivid, and the polish is excellent, allowing the stone to display saturated green tones with lively internal reflections. Enhancement is standard, applied to improve clarity stability without altering the inherent color chemistry that defines its origin. The cut preserves weight while optimizing faceting to enhance depth and brilliance, and the stone’s provenance from Colombia situates it within a long legacy of historically significant emeralds. This description is intended to convey the geological history and the precise gemological attributes that inform professional assessment and design considerations, providing a clear foundation for appraisal or incorporation into a refined setting.
