This GRS certified, 5.97 carat, heart shaped Colombian emerald from The Natural Emerald Company presents a technical combination of precision cutting and natural material quality that yields exceptional optical performance. The stone measures 12.56 by 14.20 by 7.61 millimeters, producing an average depth ratio of approximately 57 percent which is optimized for efficient light return in a heart silhouette. The cutter employed a mixed brilliant faceting scheme, pairing a brilliant facet pattern on the crown with a modified pavilion to balance dispersion and focused scintillation. The clarity grade is very slightly included at eye level, and the transparent crystal with standard enhancement has been carefully oiled to stabilize surface reaching fissures without compromising internal light transmission. With intense color saturation and an excellent polish, the facet junctions are crisp and mirror like, minimizing scattering losses and maximizing internal reflections.
Structurally, this emerald capitalizes on beryl optics and precise facet geometry to produce a sparkle that is unmatched by less meticulously prepared stones. Beryl has a refractive index in the neighborhood of 1.57 to 1.58, and low birefringence, which means properly proportioned facets return clean, high contrast flashes rather than doubled or diffused light. The mixed brilliant layout concentrates return light through the table and lobes of the heart form, while the modified pavilion angles are tuned to the stone dimensions to enhance face up brightness and controlled scintillation. The heart cleft and lobes create purposeful zones of return, generating alternating areas of vivid green flash and darker contrast that accentuate movement with every shift. Excellent polishing reduces micro roughness at facet planes, so each junction acts as an efficient mirror, and the very slightly included clarity allows unobstructed transmission of light, preserving color saturation rather than dulling it. GRS certification verifies the Colombian origin and the standard enhancement protocol, and The Natural Emerald Company recommends a protective mounting to safeguard the stone's durability while displaying its engineered brilliance to full effect.
