This transparent, emerald cut, green emerald weighs 2.24 carat and measures 8.26 by 7.47 by 5.14 mm. The stone exhibits intense color, a clarity grade of very slightly included evaluated at eye level, and an excellent polish. Enhancement is standard and the origin is Zambia. The Natural Emerald Company presents this gem as an example of both measured gemological quality and considered cutting, where the emerald cut emphasizes the depth and saturation of green while managing light return with clean, parallel facets.
The story of this emerald begins millions of years ago deep within the Earth, during a prolonged and complex cycle of metamorphism and magmatic activity. Chromium and vanadium rich fluids originating from mafic intrusions migrated into fractures and layered schists, and under sustained heat and pressure microscopic amounts of beryllium combined with these transition metals to nucleate beryl crystals. Over an extended period of time, sustained hydrothermal circulation allowed the crystal lattice to grow in incremental stages, producing well formed prismatic beryl that subsequently acquired its saturated green through trace element incorporation. Later tectonic uplift and erosion liberated these crystals from their host rock, transporting and concentrating them in the weathered regolith before modern mining exposed specimens suitable for cutting. The transformations that occurred from formation to recovery account for the gem s transparency, its intense hue, and the natural internal features that lead to the very slightly included clarity grade noted at eye level.
When considered as a finished gem, the emerald cut for this 2.24 carat stone was selected to balance face up size and color saturation against the stone s natural characteristics. The cut and excellent polish maximize the evenness of color and offer a stable visual field while respecting the internal structure inherited from its geological history. Standard enhancement has been applied according to industry practice to improve surface reaching fissures without obscuring the stone s intrinsic properties. This combination of origin, formation history, measured proportions, and finishing make the piece a precise representation of Zambian emerald material as presented by The Natural Emerald Company.
