This 2.05 carat Zambian emerald from The Natural Emerald Company begins its story in the copperbelt-proximate deposits of Zambia, where dense, chromium-bearing pegmatitic veins yield material notable for saturated tones. The rough was hand-selected for transparency and color zoning, then transported to our cutting atelier where preservation of weight and color were prioritized. The preformings were executed to optimize the stone’s length to width ratio of approximately 1.30, producing a cushion outline measuring 9.41 by 7.25 by 4.53 millimeters. The final depth proportion is approximately 54 percent, a conscious choice to balance return of light with retention of that intense green bodycolor inherent to Zambian material. Ethical sourcing records and chain-of-custody documentation accompany the gem, reflecting our commitment to responsible supply.
The gem was faceted to a mixed brilliant scheme, combining a brilliant facet arrangement on the crown with a controlled step architecture on the pavilion to marry scintillation with depth of color. Crown facet angles and table size were calibrated to maximize windowing control, while pavilion facets were precisely executed to enhance internal light return without over-brightening the rich green. The mixed brilliant approach preserves the stone’s intense color intensity and minimizes apparent inclusions, resulting in an eye clean clarity grade when evaluated at eye level. Finished with an excellent polish and a thin to medium polished girdle for secure setting, the emerald underwent standard enhancement consistent with trade practice, a conservatively applied clarity enhancement disclosed and stable under normal wear. Each facet junction was inspected for symmetry and return, ensuring the stone presents uniform luster and polished facet transitions in the loupe and to the naked eye. When this cushion emerald arrives to market under the banner of The Natural Emerald Company it is presented with precise measurements, photographic documentation, and full disclosure, ready for setting by a discerning client who values technical quality, provenance, and the nuanced craftsmanship that turns raw Zambian material into a finely calibrated gemstone.
