From the mineral vein to the jeweler, this Colombian emerald tells a quiet story of pressure, time, and human care. Unearthed in Colombia, this transparent 2.02 carat oval emerald measures 9.58 x 7.60 x 5.17 mm, a shape chosen to honor the stone's natural proportions, and it carries a mixed brilliant cut that brings lively scintillation to the intense green hue. The cutter at our workshop studied the rough, saving weight while opening facets that release light from the heart of the gem, the clarity grade reads very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, which allows the stone to remain vivid and lively without losing the authenticity of its origin. The polish is excellent, and standard enhancement has been applied to stabilize the surface and deepen the green, a common and accepted practice that preserves the gem for generations. At The Natural Emerald Company we photograph each angle, test each facet, and set this oval into a final form that celebrates the way Colombian emeralds carry sunlight, a pure and intense green that seems to grow from within.
When you compare this emerald to examples from other famous locations, the differences tell the tale of geology and place, the tone and hue mark the fingerprint of the mine. Compared to Muzo emeralds, known for deep, saturated forest green, this stone leans slightly brighter and more radiant, with a clarity that permits a cleaner face up appearance. Compared to Chivor emeralds, which can show a cooler, bluish cast, this oval reads a truer green, warmer at the heart and more jewel like on the table. Zambian emeralds often display a richer, bluish tone and a heavier medium dark to dark tone, making them feel denser, while Brazilian emeralds can show lighter, yellowish greens that feel sunnier but less intense, in contrast to this gem which holds intense color intensity with a medium bright tone ideal for rings. The mixed brilliant faceting unlocks brilliance more common to high quality Colombian material, and the overall balance of hue, tone, and clarity gives this emerald a voice that is both classic and contemporary, ready to be set and worn, signed by The Natural Emerald Company.
