As a representative of The Natural Emerald Company I present a meticulously selected 1.58 carat pear shaped Colombian emerald, transparent and calibrated at 10.28 x 6.61 x 4.32 mm, finished with a mixed brilliant cut and a clarity grade evaluated as slightly included at eye level. From a technical standpoint this gem exhibits the hallmark characteristics of high quality Colombian material, including a medium intense green that balances saturation with brightness to produce a vivid yet controlled color presence. The mixed brilliant faceting strategy employed by our master cutter combines a brilliant crown architecture to maximize scintillation, with a carefully executed step influenced pavilion to preserve weight and reinforce color depth. The result is a gemstone that demonstrates lively light return and scintillation from the crown, while maintaining a deep, consistent green tone through the pavilion, all supported by an excellent polish that leaves facet junctions crisp and reflective.
The journey of this emerald began in a Colombian deposit renowned for producing stones with fine color and classic jardin inclusions, inclusions that are intrinsic to emerald identity. Once recovered, the rough underwent a rigorous assessment that considered crystal orientation color zoning and internal features, with the objective of extracting maximum color and transparency with minimal weight loss. Orientation was prioritized to align the table plane with the crystal's best color face, while minimizing the visibility of any linear fractures or included crystals. During preforming the cutter mapped facet patterns using transmitted light microscopy and optical modeling to predict light behavior, ensuring that the eventual pear outline would present optimal spread and brilliance. Standard enhancement was applied in a controlled manner to reduce the visual impact of fissures and to subtly enhance surface appearance, consistent with industry best practices and conservation of the stone's natural character.
Cutting and finishing reflect classical and contemporary lapidary techniques, employing high precision faceting equipment and sequential polishing regimes. The mixed brilliant cut on this pear shape incorporates a crown with triangular and kite shaped facets arranged to classical brilliant geometry, tuned to a slightly shallower pavilion angle in the bulb of the pear to accentuate color saturation, while the tapered lower pavilion exhibits elongated step facets to create a visual window into the stone. Facet junctions were verified under 10x magnification to be uniform and free of rounding, delivering an excellent polish that enhances both contrast and luster. The girdle was left at a moderate thickness to provide durability without impeding light transmission, and the culet area was proportioned to avoid a distracting dark spot when viewed table up. The slightly included clarity grade reflects small inclusions and a characteristic jardin network typical of Colombian emeralds, inclusions that are stable and do not compromise the gem for daily wear, while contributing to the stone s unique fingerprint and provenance.
Upon completion the gemstone underwent final quality control here at The Natural Emerald Company, where we performed standardized gemological evaluation including precise measurement, weight verification, and color assessment under daylight balanced lighting. The medium intense color intensity was confirmed through comparative viewing against master stones, and clarity was documented with photography and written description. The gemstone is ideal for connoisseurs seeking a balance of natural character and technical excellence, suitable for a bespoke ring or pendant where the pear shape will deliver elegant lines and directional brilliance. Its Colombian origin, transparent body, and expert mixed brilliant cutting make it a refined choice for collectors and designers who appreciate the nuanced interplay of facet geometry, color saturation, and traditional enhancement that together tell a complete story from mine to market.
