Product description

This custom made pendant setting is engineered to elevate a single gemstone into a refined focal point, with construction and finishing focused on optical performance and long term wearability. The head accepts classic faceted gemstones such as sapphire, ruby, emerald, and other calibrated gemstones, and it is configured to maximize light entry through a pierced gallery and an open basket, while still providing secure four prong retention. The design language centers on an accent stones motif, where a halo of smaller gems frames the primary stone, and tapered baguette diamonds on the bail introduce a linear counterpoint to the halo geometry. Metals are offered to suit both aesthetic and gemological objectives, including 14K rose gold, 14K white gold, 18K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 18K yellow gold, platinum 950, 14K yellow and white, and 18K yellow and white, and each metal is precision milled and hand finished to achieve consistent seat tolerances and smooth prong profiles that reduce stress on girdles and avoid facet nicks during setting.

From a gemological perspective the accent stones strategy alters both perceived size and optical behavior of the center gem. The halo is populated with small brilliant cut diamonds that are ideally proportioned to deliver optimal brilliance and scintillation without overpowering the centre stone, and the tapered baguette side stones employ step cut geometry with long rectangular facets that emphasize linear light return and directional contrast. For diamonds used as side stones we recommend color grades in the G to H range, paired with clarity of VS2 to SI1 for balance of value and visual purity when viewed face up in a halo configuration. The choice of center stone cut interacts with the halo to produce distinct effects, for example a brilliant cut sapphire or ruby will integrate with the halo to amplify sparkle through scintillation transfer between adjacent facets, whereas a step cut emerald will benefit from the halo and tapered baguettes by increasing apparent face up color saturation and perceived table size. The setting geometry leaves a controlled clearance under the girdle to allow light to refract and return from the pavilion facets, and prong geometry is chamfered and burnished to minimize stress concentrations at the girdle.

Craftsmanship details are evident in the micro engineering of the setting seats and the execution of the accent stone mounts, ensuring consistent facet alignment and secure closure. Accent diamonds in the halo are either micro prong set or bead set depending on the selected metal and stone size, and the tapered baguette diamonds on the bail are set in a parallel bar style that maintains axial stability while presenting a low profile on the neckline. Hand polishing and final rhodium plating for white gold options are applied to achieve a neutral reflective field that complements cooler toned gems, whereas rose and yellow gold alloys are left polished to enhance warm undertones and to increase apparent chromatic depth in rubies and warm sapphires. The ability to choose metal type allows tailoring of the metal to the center stone, for example platinum 950 and 18K white gold preserve the true hue of high grade blue sapphires, while 14K rose gold adds a subtle warm veil that can deepen the appearance of pinkish or orangey ruby hues. Together these elements transform a single calibrated gemstone into an elegant and striking centerpiece, the halo and tapered baguette accents increasing visual mass and optical complexity without sacrificing refinement or secure mechanical performance.
