Deep within the layered soils of Zambia, where ancient geological forces converged to concentrate chromium and trace elements, this emerald began its long journey. It was unearthed from a landscape that gives stones their intense verdant personality, and it arrived at our workshop still bearing the memory of time and pressure. At The Natural Emerald Company we honor that memory by beginning each piece with the story of origin, allowing the natural character of the gem to lead the design. The 2.32 carat emerald carries the voice of the mine, a vivid green that speaks of fertile earth and tropical light, and our craftsmen listened carefully as they planned how best to reveal its soul.

From rough to refined, the decision to fashion this gem into an emerald cut was a deliberate tribute to its internal landscape. The finished stone measures 8.64 by 7.09 by 4.93 millimeters, and its proportions were calculated to enhance both depth of color and return of light. Rather than chasing brilliance in the way a brilliant cut might, the emerald cut celebrates broad, mirror like facets that create dramatic flashes and a layered hall of light. This cut, paired with an excellent polish and a clarity grade described as very slightly included, evaluated at eye level, allows large planes of light to play across the table and steps, producing bold flashes and a scintillating interplay between bright and deep green. The step facets act like windows and mirrors in tandem, guiding light into the stone, reflecting it along parallel planes, and returning it as saturated, lively color and luminous, controlled brilliance.

To frame that green luminosity, we placed carefully selected white diamonds at the shoulders of the ring, chosen for their purity and ability to amplify light. The pear shaped natural diamonds weigh approximately 0.20 carats in total, and the round shaped natural diamonds weigh approximately 0.144 carats in total, all with clarity grades Very Slightly Included VS1 and VS2, and color grade F. Each diamond was set to maximize exposure to light, allowing their brilliant cuts to scatter white light back toward the emerald and the viewer. The contrast between the step cut of the emerald and the brilliant sparkle of the side diamonds creates a conversation of light, the diamonds offering lively scintillation, the emerald returning stately flashes and depth. The arrangement of pear and round stones also creates a tapered silhouette that directs the eye to the center stone, making the emerald appear even larger and more vivid, while the precise prong and bezel work allows light to flow into and out of every angle.
