This ring centers a 1.65 carat pear shaped Colombian emerald measuring 10.59 x 6.65 x 4.32 mm, cut in a mixed brilliant style to merge the depth and color saturation of traditional step cutting with the scintillation of brilliant faceting. The mixed brilliant faceting plan increases internal light return in the pavilion while preserving the broad table face that showcases the stone color. The emerald exhibits intense color saturation and an excellent polish, and the clarity is described as slightly included at eye level, typical of Colombian material where jardin features provide fingerprint like internal patterns that enhance depth rather than detract from visual performance. The proportions of the pear shape have been selected to present an elongated silhouette on the finger, with a length to width ratio that emphasizes the vivid green hue without creating excessive crown or pavilion mass that would mute brilliance.
The setting has been engineered to maximize both protection and light ingress to the pavilion and table of the emerald. The pear point is secured in a reinforced V prong designed to shield the vulnerable tip from lateral impacts while minimizing shadowing of the main facet. The head uses four symmetrically placed prongs at critical facet junctions, with their geometry calculated to clamp just beyond the girdle to maintain security without obstructing the table. The open undergallery beneath the pavilion is scalloped and precisely positioned to allow unobstructed entry of light from multiple angles, which in combination with the mixed brilliant faceting enhances both the face up color saturation and internal scintillation. The metalwork immediately surrounding the girdle is finished with tight junctions and crisp seat cuts, so the stone sits with stable orientation and predictable light behavior.
The accent diamonds are deployed as a calibrated sequence along an articulated, twisted shoulder that integrates small marquise shaped cavities to create alternating fields of white light and negative space. Round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately 0.14 carats are positioned adjacent to the head and set in secure prong seats to create anchor points of brightness that visually frame the emerald. Additional round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately 0.108 carats are bead set along the shoulders in micro prong seats which reduce metal obstruction and increase visible facet area, delivering continuous edge to edge sparkle. The accent diamonds carry clarity grades in the VS range and color grades of F and F slash G, providing high white contrast against the green center stone without introducing noticeable body color. The contrast between the icy white brilliances of the diamonds and the intense green of the emerald is exploited deliberately to create perceived saturation enhancement, making the center stone appear more vivid when viewed under mixed lighting.
The entire structure is executed in 18K white gold with a polished finish and a rhodium tone that reads bright and reflective against the green center. The white gold alloy was chosen for its combination of ductility and strength, which allows the precision prong work and the fine bead setting required for the small diamonds. Surfaces that direct light toward the emerald are highly polished, while internal recesses and the underside of the gallery are given a controlled satin to reduce unwanted mirror return and to focus reflective energy into the gemstone pavilion. All setting joins are hand finished and inspected to ensure that facet line continuity of the emerald aligns optically with the orientation of adjacent diamond facets, a technique employed by The Natural Emerald Company to create coherent scintillation between elements. The result is a technically considered ring where faceting strategy, prong geometry, and micro setting techniques work in concert to make the pear shaped Colombian emerald visually dominant, while the white diamonds and 18K white gold setting enhance perceived color, protect the stone, and provide enduring craftsmanship.
