This emerald began its story deep beneath the Zambian earth, where ancient geological forces gathered chromium rich fluids into pockets of crystalline growth, over millions of years. Miners working by hand and by light followed veins of verdant promise, extracting rough stones that carried the history of time in their color and internal structure. Our 2.97 carat cushion shape emerald was found in that storied landscape, measured at 9.96 x 8.02 x 5.58 mm, and selected for its rare combination of transparency and vivacity. As with all pieces curated by The Natural Emerald Company, the stone was chosen not only for size, but for character, the kind of presence that reads like a green beacon when set in daylight, and that deepens into a jewel tone as light moves across its facets. The mixed brilliant cut was chosen to honor the gem where it began, preserving depth and saturation while opening the surface to fire and brilliance, so that the stone tells the full arc from its subterranean origin to the hand that wears it.
In the cutting studio the emerald found a new language, one of proportion and polish. Master cutters shaped the rough into a cushion form that balances classical elegance with modern brilliance, each facet oriented to bring life to the lively green within. The clarity reads very very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, a testament to exceptional material for a natural emerald, and the polish is excellent, allowing reflections to flow cleanly across the table and crown. The vivid color saturation gives this stone a confidence that can be compared favorably to the emeralds found in more famous rings, where historical reputation sometimes outweighs the technical quality of the stone. Colombian emeralds have long been celebrated for their pure green tones and high saturation, and while those stones are often the benchmark in public imagination, exceptional Zambian material such as this can rival and in some lighting surpass them with a cooler, more electric green and notable transparency. In the company of museum pieces and designer centerpieces that command headlines, this emerald stands as a pure and honest contender, its natural origin and superb cutting allowing it to compete with the best in color depth, clarity to the eye, and captivating presence.
Surrounding the center gem are white diamonds selected to elevate and not overwhelm, chosen for their brightness and complementary proportions. The pear shaped natural diamonds weigh approximately 0.50 carats in total, and carry a clarity of Very Slightly Included across VS1 and VS2 grades, with a color grade of F, offering near colorless radiance directly adjacent to the green heart of the ring. Flanking and accenting are white round shaped natural diamonds weighing approximately 0.245 carats, clarity VS, color grade F G, together with a cluster of round diamonds totaling approximately 0.36 carats, clarity VS, color grade F G, and a further small round weight of approximately 0.084 carats, clarity VS, color grade F G. Each diamond was selected for consistent white color and lively facet performance, to create a luminous halo and shoulders that gently lift the emerald visually, increasing perceived size and intensifying sparkle without diluting the central color. The stones are set with meticulous attention to light paths, their placement calculated so that every movement catches white fire, framing the green center in a way that recalls the finesse of famed designer rings, yet offers a clarity and balance often absent in jewelry that relies on brand rather than the synergy between center and accents.
The setting is crafted entirely in platinum 950, chosen for its durable strength and cool white sheen that enhances the emeralds green without introducing warm undertones. Platinum also secures the stones with minimal metal visibility, making the gems feel suspended above the finger, while ensuring longevity for everyday wear. The ring is finished with fine workmanship at the gallery and shank, pavé and prong settings executed to maintain clean lines and maximum light return. In comparison to more famous rings, which can at times trade off natural character for perfect symmetry or for stones modified to fit a trend, this piece celebrates authenticity, selecting a natural Zambian emerald with a rare combination of vivid saturation and eye level clarity, partnered with high quality F and F G color diamonds of VS clarity. The overall effect is one of considered elegance and enduring value, an object whose story from mine to hand is preserved in every facet. At The Natural Emerald Company we invite you to experience this narrative in person, to compare its presence with any celebrated ring in a collection, and to appreciate how origin, cut, and setting come together to create a jewel that is both personally meaningful and technically outstanding.
